Looking For Fun Ways to Exercise?

Everybody says they’re going to start exercising more. It could be a new year, the summer coming up, or someone finding a new crush. We really do mean it when we make that decision to change & get healthier, but it’s easy to get lost in the sauce. Life comes at you fast, and you might start tomorrow & stop by Sunday because you forgot or have other important things going on. These fun ways to exercise can help you stay on track & get the most out of your exercising.

In order to maintain a healthy lifestyle, you need to have a healthy diet, exercise frequently & rest often. Most of us live busy lives, so getting adequate rest is probably the hardest part of the formula to execute on. There are plenty of tips to maintain a healthy diet. Adequate rest & keeping a healthy diet will give you more energy to exercise. When it comes to exercising, you need to figure out what works for you. What do you enjoy? How much time will you allocate?

Entertainment

One of my favorite ways to have some fun while I do any form of exercising is to listen to podcasts or music while doing it. Some people may prefer to watch videos or TV if accessible. If you’re not sure what to watch/listen to, start here. In my experiences, it makes the workouts go faster & smoother. You’ll focus on the entertainment rather than how much longer you have to go, which makes it easier to finish.

Challenges

My friends & I made a rule that involved doing push ups when you are wrong about something or lose at something. We didn’t know what we were starting at the time, but this ended up being one of the more fun ways to exercise. This went from losing a game of NBA 2K to losing debates. If you don’t do your push ups on the spot then your count doubles whenever you end up doing them. You could end up having to do 100 push ups a day which is way more than your competition will do. This made us stay on our toes but also allowed us to gain something positive out of our losses. It’s always fun getting jokes off when someone racks up 200 push ups in one argument. You don’t have to do push ups of course. It can be jumping jacks or anything, having the challenge is fun & gives everyone a reason to exercise randomly.

Work Together

Another great way to challenge yourself is to find an exercise partner. Challenging each other & holding each other accountable is super helpful when trying to remain consistent. Aside from that, it makes it easier not being alone & having someone else grinding alongside you. It’s also one of the most fun ways to exercise because, assuming it’s somebody you like to be around, you can have fun just being there regardless of how difficult of an exercise you are doing. This is a hack when it comes to exercising. The days you don’t feel like it, you feel a responsibility to be there with your partner that plans on showing up. Working together with a partner is one of the best ways to challenge yourself while having fun in the process. Having a trainer, coach or mentor is also very beneficial. This will help you be disciplined & you’ll have the positive reinforcement that you are doing everything the right way.

Just Dance

Dancing for a good amount of time is a great workout. You can tell because after three songs of Bachata dancing you feel like you just did a leg day in the gym. If you dance often, you won’t even think about it (until the soreness pulls up). If you love music or dancing, you might as well do that if you don’t like more popular exercises like running or lifting.

Have Some Fun

If you’re into sports, you obviously know how fun it can be. You don’t even think about how much exercising you’re doing. If you’re somebody that doesn’t like to go for runs, there’s many other options for you. Biking, skating, tennis, soccer & basketball are some of many choices. Obviously, outdoor activities are less of an option during the colder months of the year, but I’ll discuss some indoor alternatives to running. There are some fun exercises for kids as well, such as letting them run around at the park or hula-hooping.

From The Comfort Of Your Home

During the cold months, you still have options to substitute for running. The easiest is just being active wherever you are. Walk around while you’re working if you can and walk around the house a lot. Your family might get annoyed with you, but you should just convince them to join you if that happens. These little things can make a difference when you do it daily. While you’re waiting on that load of laundry, you can walk up and down the steps of your house while listening to music or whichever form of entertainment you prefer. Those are just some of many ways to exercise at home.

Switch It Up & Build Discipline

Build a routine, but have variety. In my experiences, doing the same thing over and over every day can get old quick. If you can go running every single day and enjoy it every time, salute to you. Sometimes, it’s hard to fit a daily run into your schedule, even if someone does love running every day. Keeping it unique keeps people engaged. This isn’t really a fun way to exercise but it will help you continue to enjoy the process.

One of the tougher things on this list is setting a goal and reward system with yourself. The reason it’s tough is you need to be disciplined. If you can do that, it’s an easy way to motivate yourself to exercise. If you don’t like going to the gym, but you like playing some video games after work, just make a deal with yourself that you’ll do 100 push ups every day before you pick up the controller. You can do this however it fits your life. Find the things you enjoy doing and discipline yourself to do some sort of exercise before doing them, even if it’s something quick and easy.

Just Do It

Finding what works for you will help you be consistent. We all know life can get in the way at times. Just do it. These fun ways to exercise will help people stay fit. These are just 7 fun ways to exercise, but there are so many other ways to exercise & workout as well. Choose one & get started!
